Whirlpool dryer was making annoying squeaking noise. Previously replaced the rollers which helped but then after a few months the noise got worse. Opened it up and the idler pulley was almost completely broken. Order this replacement along with the new belt and it works like a charm now. It took a few adjustments of the spring on the idler pulley to get it really quiet. The first time I put it back together there was a different noise. Took it back apart and finally realized the spring was rubbing on the bracket making a noise. Repositioned the spring so it was fitting tight and then it worked without any noises. There are several video's on how to take the dryer apart and install the pulley if you need guidance. Beware there are two different idler pulleys so make sure you order the right one. There is a white one and a black one. They fit different models.

This has been very frustrating. The belt is so twisted it is impossible to unwind. I have tried putting it outside in the sun but doesn’t help at all. Fortunately I had another original belt I had purchased a year ago and kept in case the belt broke. But the twisted belt was not the main problem. I installed the pulley and my OEM belt, put together and tried it. Within 5 minutes there was a horrible noise. I then had to take every thing off again and look at what the problem was. The pulley should be pressed on to the metal bushing/bearing. It should not slide around on the bushing. The plastic pulley had slid too close to the side of the metal bracket and was hitting as the pulley went around. The pulley should not slide on the bearing! By this time I had enough. I decided to attempt a fix that is partially working at least no clunking noise. It still has a very minor clicking noise and I’m sure it wont last for long. The fix I did was so I could at least dry my one load of wash that had been waiting for a day. I superglued the wheel to the shaft and waited 12 hours to use. I am ordering another pulley from Whirlpool so I get an original part. Cost is much more but definitely will be worth it. Do not purchase this product!

UNPLUG FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN THIS REPAIR.I have an laundry appliance business so am inside laundry machines all of the time. The level of difficulty installing parts really depends on the brand of your machine. This part went into a whirlpool cabrio dryer. You will need: a putty knife, and a few sockets, needle nose pliers, thats about it. The tension pulley is held on by one bolt. Just be careful with the spring. Use needle nose pliers to remove it before you take the old pulley off. If you are working on your own, tape the new belt at the top of the drum so it doesn't slip towards the back of the drum when you are trying to attach it to the motor. Pull the belt under the tension wheel and then loop it over the motor wheel. Then remove the tape and carefully turn the drum to make sure the belt is lined up with the existing wear line. The grooves on the belt should be touching the drum. You might find it easier if you lean the dryer back around 90 degrees when you are putting the belt on. Good quality belt and pulley that fitted well. Don't forget to vacuum out the lint before you put it all back together.

Great price and overall a good product, but the new pulley wobbled quite a bit on the new bracket that came with it. As a result, as soon as I did a test run on the dryer, there was a terrible squealing noise due to the amount of free play.I removed the new pulley and put it on the old bracket and it was noticeably tighter – the old post was clearly a larger diameter than the new one. I added a little lithium grease to be on the safe side and reassembled the dryer – no squeal at all and it was as good as new. A couple dozen loads of laundry later, it's still nice and quiet.

Purchased as a replacement less than 90 days ago. Seem to fix the problem at first, but now it has already pre-maturely failed! Did not last long at all. Hoping the next one I purchase lasts at least a year!

Fit is compatible, but the roller and bearing are clearly inferior quality and not expected to last too long.

Installed for two weeks now. Works well and fixed the squeaking problem I had.My only problem was with the Amazon promised date. Ordered March 11. Before ordering Amazon said I would receive it on Mar 12. The confirmation email after ordering said Mar 15. Received on Mar 15. Bait and switch on delivery dates on the part of Amazon.
